Education
Whether this is your first or sixth baby, the postpartum period is a major time of transition for you, your body, and — well — your whole family. This period of time is often called the fourth trimester, and for good reason!
Whereas you used a birth doula to provides support during the actual labor and birth, a postpartum doula provides non-medical support in these important days and weeks after your delivery.
As a postpartum doula, I give emotional and physical support, as well as information. With infant care, but the primary focus is on the mother and your family.
Many women and their partners choose to attend childbirth classes to get information and ease their anxiety.
What are the benefits of childbirth education classes?
Childbirth classes help to give you confidence in your body’s ability to give birth.
You can discuss your fears about labor and birth and with couples with the same concerns.
Your partner will learn about childbirth and how to support you on your baby's birthday. You may find that attending childbirth classes together will create a special bond.
You will learn about pain relief options, including massage, relaxation, breathing techniques, meditation and medications.
Birth Doula
Have you ever heard of or met a Birth Doula? In recent years more and more families are becoming aware of the profession and how a Doula can benefit expecting families.
What is a Birth Doula?
A Birth Doula is a professional who helps guide you through pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. As a Doula I fill the gap of care that, oftentimes, doctors and midwives are unable to fill. I offer informational, physical, and emotional support to families that I work for.
Need someone to vent to about fears or worries about your pregnancy?
Need someone to help you educate yourself about all your choices in pregnancy and birth?
A Doula will help you! Think of a Birth Doula as your pregnancy “personal assistant”.
